Ditzy Media got the top spot once again as Best-Loved PR & Media Agency in the UK for the third year running, and came 4th in the quest to be Eastbourne’s Best-Loved Business.

The top three businesses in Eastbourne were:

• Southern IT
• Dent Devils
• Tectonic Digital Systems

The Best of Eastbourne is run by David Ruddle, and it has been showcasing Eastbourne businesses for over 8 years.

This annual competition is based on customer reviews and only verified reviews count towards the competition.

So a massive thank you to all of our customers!

We were delighted to achieve over 300 reviews now on The Best Of as our customers rallied to support our efforts in the competition.  We are truly delighted with the result – and we are equally delighted to have lost to some amazing Eastbourne based businesses! Well deserved everyone!

Happy New Year everyone! By all accounts it is set to be a busy and exciting year.

My month begins with the news that I have qualified for thebestof.co.uk ‘Local & Loved’ Awards. This is national competition with local awards through thebestofeastbourne to find the nation’s and, in my case, Eastbourne’s best loved business.

As a new business generating enough testimonials from my customers either for my direct social media work or for my training workshops to qualify is quite an achievement.

As things stand, I am the nations third most loved PR & Marketing Agency on thebestof.co.uk, and locally the town’s sixth most loved business.

This month sees new beginnings within my business. I am starting a contract to work with the National Trading Standards Board’s National Scams Team on an acclaimed initiative which prevents our most vulnerable adults becoming victims of mass marketing fraud.

This is very different from my previous role within Trading Standards, and I am delighted to be able to continue to engage in important work that has a real benefit for our most vulnerable consumers.

My Social Media Marketing workshops have been very well received, and this month I am holding my third workshop.

Additionally, I have been contracted by a local college to deliver Social Media Marketing training to local businesses.

On a personal note, for those of you following the story of my leg injury, I am delighted to report I can now walk and drive, so am able to visit customers all over the county which is absolutely brilliant.

The month began with the Relaunch of the #EBTweetup, which included the launch of EastbourneHour or #EBHour and also my launch.

The event was very well attended by the local community and businesses and we were very lucky to have Mr Stephen Lloyd MP and Katy Bourne, Sussex Police Crime Commissioner as speakers, as well as my good self talking about my new business, and not forgetting the marvelous David Ruddle, thebestof Eastbourne hosting the event.

And then #EBHour began! It has now been running for 3 weeks and we are averaging just shy of 50 contributors which is brilliant and underlines what an active community Eastbourne is on Twitter.

I was then fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to take over #SussexHour from Carole Manley who has hosted the chat hour since it began in March 2013.

Hosting #EBHour and #SussexHour concurrently is serious fun and hard work too, but hard work that you enjoy is not really hard work!

Another highlight this month was launching a partnership with Families For Autism www.familiesforautism.com This is a great local charity doing some fabulous work in supporting families of children and young people with Autism in Eastbourne and East Sussex.

October looks to be another exciting and busy month, with my first Social Media Marketing workshop booked for 21 October. I have trained lots of small businesses on getting started on social media previously but it’s a great feeling to be doing this as Ditzy Media.
